History of TOSHO

Since its establishment in 1971, TOSHO Inc. has dealt in equipment and devices for hospitals and dispensing pharmacies.In the ever-changing medical field, we continue to evolve, focusing on what only humans can do.

1970s

  • 1971

    • April

      Established Tokyo Shokai Inc. with the merger of Tokyo Packing Machine Co. Ltd., Tokyo Shokai Inc., and Winning Co. Ltd.
      Manufacturing and sales of TOWA-ST type automatic medicine packing machine and TOWA type automatic preliminary medicine packing machines.

  • 1974

    • February

      Released environmental equipment such as clean hoods and dust extractors for the improvement of pharmaceutical environments.

    • March

      Capital increased from ¥3,000,000 to ¥12,000,000.

  • 1976

    • June

      Released the MERIX series of dispensing equipment, including dispensing cabinets.

  • 1977

    • September

      Capital doubled, from ¥12,000,000 to ¥24,000,000

  • 1978

    • March

      Released the OMP series of box type full automatic powder medicine packing machines.

  • 1979

    • April

      Acquired property in Higashi-Kojiya, Ota-ku, Tokyo, where the head office and main plant were relocated to.

1980s

  • 1981

    • May

      Released the UNISET series of easy-install dispensing cabinets.

  • 1983

    • April

      Established a plant in Isezaki City, Gunma Prefecture, to strengthen manufacturing, development and distribution.

  • 1984

    • March

      Established the Niigata Plant in Niigata City, Niigata Prefecture, as a comprehensive paper manufacturing plant.

    • April

      Released the SYSTEM-1000 powder medicine inspection terminal.

  • 1985

    • July

      Capital doubled, from ¥24,000,000 to ¥48,000,000.

    • October

      Released the Main-TOPRA series of slide cabinet-style, full automatic tablet packing machines.

  • 1986

    • November

      Released the CPL series of medication indication systems.

  • 1987

    • April

      Started on-line connection service between hospital host computer systems and pharmacy operations.

  • 1988

    • January

      Released the PC-CAT series of full automatic tablet packing machines with PC-based control console.

    • February

      Released the PX-88 series of drip auto-set devices.

1990s

  • 1990

    • February

      Released the AR-9090 series of double-R disk type full automatic powder medicine packing machines.

    • August

      Released the TYS series of medicine-bag print systems.

    • October

      Released a liquid medicine inspection terminal.

  • 1991

    • April

      Released the AR-CAT full automatic tablet/powder medicine integrated packing machine.

    • December

      Completed the New Niigata Plant building.

  • 1992

    • April

      Changed the company name to TOSHO Inc.

  • 1993

    • June

      Released the V-1000 final inspection sorting system.

  • 1994

    • August

      Completed the head office building in Higashi-Kojiya, Ota-ku, Tokyo.

  • 1995

      Released the UNIPUL series of automatic injection drug dispensing machines.

  • 1997

    • February

      Acquired the CE marking for the export model of the YNS full automatic tablet packing machine.

      Released the VP-Win total prescription analysis system.

      Released the Assist114, a compact full automatic tablet packing machine.

      Released the Flxia series of dispensing cabinets and equipment designed for new dispensing environments.

    • July

      Released the LITERA series of real-time medicine managing systems.

  • 2001

    • September

      Released the Picky injection drug dispensing support system.

  • 2002

    • April

      Released the io series of full automatic tablet/powder medicine packing machines and full automatic powder medicine packing machines.

    • February

      Acquired the CE marking for the export model of the Leader4001 full automatic tablet packing machine.

  • 2003

    • April

      Released the UNIPUL-4000 series of automatic injection drug dispensing machines, for handling a wide variety of injection drugs at high speed.

    • October

      Announced the Pass Clean clean bench with built-in automatic cleaning pass box.

  • 2004

    • April

      Released the Xana series of full automatic tablet packing machines.

    • November

      Released Compact UNIPUL, a compact automatic injection drug dispensing machine.

  • 2005

    • July

      Released the Xana-1360, a compact full automatic tablet packing machine.

  • 2006

    • April

      Announced the Xana-4001U2, a high-performance full automatic tablet packing machine for the European market.

  • 2007

    • November

      Announced the io-Win series of full automatic powder medicine packing machines using double-disk technology.

  • 2008

    • August

      Announced Xana-4001U2 for the domestic market.

  • 2009

    • May

      Released the mille automatic dispensing shelf.

2010s

  • 2010

    • January

      Announced release of variant colors for the Xana-EU series of full automatic tablet packing machines.

  • 2014

    • October

      Head office building construction completed in Higashi-Kojiya, Ota-ku, Tokyo and head office relocated there the following January.

  • 2015

    • September

      Released the UNIPUL-5000 series of automatic injection drug dispensing machines.

  • 2016

    • March

      Released the Ai series of full automatic tablet/powder medicine packing machines and full automatic powder medicine packing machines.

  • 2017

    • June

      Released the Ci-2680Entrance MoonPhase60 full automatic tablet packing machine.

2020s

  • 2020

    • September

      Shiro Omura becomes Chairman; Yoshihito Omura becomes President.

    • December

      Obtained ISO 27001 (JIS Q 27001:2014) information security certification.
